Another 3 am hike

Much like the majority of the hikes that we completed in the Lofoten Islands, this one was also completed at an unconventional time courtesy of jetlag and the midnight sun.

My father and I were lying around our cabin editing photos, consuming way too many TikToks, and trying to sleep, but we knew that we were wasting our time since we had so many other hikes to head out on before our time was spent in the North. So we grabbed our cameras, packed up our hiking gear, strapped on our boots, and drove the 10 minutes to the trailhead.

We knew this trail would give us a beautiful view of Ballstad, the town that we were staying in at Hattvika Lodge, but we weren't expecting to get the weather to complement the view the way it did. The first part of this hike was straight up the side of a mountain that eventually opened into a large field with beautiful views of a mountain jutting out straight into the ocean's coastline. The lighting here was stunning as it illuminated the side of the mountain and shadows became present contrasting the darks and lights in the landscape.

As we continued climbing the mountain we ended up popping out on a small sheep trail that had about 20 highland sheep that were grazing the field. We had our fair share of experiences with sheep on this trip, some good, a lot bad, but these sheep here were beyond friendly and continued grazing as if they didn't care about our presence.

As we continued up the mountain the weather started to turn for the worse. The summit was enveloped by a large cloud, which led to some cool photos, but all-round made it very sketchy as we walked around the summit with a thousand-foot drop beside us.

After a few minutes at the top and flying the drone in some high winds, we packed up and headed back down the mountain to return to our beds where we eventually passed out for the night.
